SodaDesk didn't start as a software idea. It started with two field businesses and the same headache in both.
I ran a cleaning company. The cleaning was never the hard part — the hard part was knowing what actually happened on a job when I wasn't there. So we needed before-and-after photos and a check that every tool and piece of equipment was accounted for at each site. My wife runs an air-conditioning company, and it was the exact same story from a different trade: techs needed to record the checks on each AC unit, and capture before-and-after photos — because without that proof, a callback or a "you damaged it" dispute is your word against the customer's.
Two completely different trades, one missing thing: proof of what happened on site. The tools we looked at were all built for something else — big field-service platforms that wanted to run quoting, scheduling, dispatch, and invoicing. Huge, expensive, and aimed at companies far bigger than ours. All we really wanted was simple: did the work get done right, is there evidence, and how long did it take?
So I built it — and we used it in the field, on our own jobs, before it was ever a product. SodaDesk gives small contractors the accountability layer the big platforms bury: techs check in, work through a photo-backed checklist, and check out. You get GPS-verified arrival times, timestamped before-and-after photos, a completed checklist, and a signed sign-off — without babysitting every job.
I'm building this in the open and I'm easy to reach. If you run a field business and any of this sounds familiar, I'd genuinely like to hear from you.
Every company's data is encrypted and isolated — one company can never see another's jobs, photos, or customers. We don't sell your data, and we never will. Job photos and signatures are stored privately and only served to your team.
